Gardening is one of those things that most people think about doing but feel it is too much work and effort. Not only can gardening relax you but it is also really good for the environment. You save packaging by not buying over packaged fruits and vegetables. They are healthier because no chemicals are being used on them, and they are fresher because you are eating them straight from your garden. It can also reduce the waste that you put in your bin by half! Saving money again. There really are no downsides to gardening. It helps the environment and your pocket!
Gardening can also be affordable. A lot of people think that gardening is expensive but it doesn’t have to be. There are many ways to reuse waste and substitute expensive chemicals and fertilizers, as well as reusing water around your home. This way the only things you have to pay for are seeds!

Composting

Composting is a way of reducing the waste from food and saving on fertilizers. Composting is something that everyone with a garden could and should do. It is a brilliant way of reducing or even eliminating damage to the environment caused by waste food etc. from your household. It means these waste products are recycled and put to good use, as opposed to being buried in a landfill site and polluting the earth. also, it means you do not need to buy expensive and harmful chemicals for your garden!  You can buy proper compost bins in any D.I.Y or gardening shop or you could make your own (which is easier and cheaper). There are many ways to make compost.

Compost pile

For the compost pile it is literally as it sounds. Create a space in your garden for your compost pile and put in any leftover raw fruit or vegetables. When you have done this the compost pile creates heat and this is how it turns all of your rubbish into a form of fertilizer. The only other thing that you must do is turn the compost piles so that everything gets a chance to heat up and it creates oxygen. Just grab a shovel and mix it up a bit. Eventually your fruit and vegetables will start to look like soil this means that it is ready. Shovel some onto your vegetables and it acts as an amazing fertilizer and best of all it doesn’t cost you a penny. In fact it can save you money because you don’t have to buy any expensive chemicals.

Compost bin

Another variation of this is a compost bin. For this you will need an old plastic bin or any large plastic container with a lid. It is the exact same thing as a compost bin but it doesn’t look as bad. You can put the lid on and no one will even know it is there.
