Jessie and Hannah - The Editors.
Hey!
Welcome to our first edition of "Green 'Zine", the eco- friendly magazine that will help save the world! Well, maybe not quite save the world, but we certainly hope to do our bit to help combat climate change. The aim of this magazine is to raise awareness about global warming, and the serious negative effects it's having on our world.
We decided to make this magazine an e-zine, because this way we don't have to waste a lot of paper by printing loads of copies. If anyone wants to read it they can just log on and read! The magazine is full of tips and ideas about how to save energy and do what you can to help solve issues like climate change, and we must also practice what we preach by doing everything in our ability to make sure the production of this e-zine has the smallest possible negative impact on the environment. By actually making this effort to be eco- friendly in every way we can, and not just tell everyone else to do it, we are following our school motto: "Actions not words".
The idea behind Green 'Zine is to raise awareness about this serious issue, and show you different ways that you can help. You can find out how to reduce the negative effects industrial farming has on the environment by organically growing your own fruit and veg and thus reducing chemicals and machinery used by farmers. You can learn how to make your own eco-friendly jewellery as opposed to jewellery which is mass produced in factories which emit greenhouse gases and harm the environment. You can learn about their benefits of composting and find out how to make delicious organic brownies with a lower carbon footprint, and where to get fab fashionable clothes produced in a way non-harmful to the environment and lots, lots more!
To get people interested in our Green 'Zine we decided to run a small competition where girls in our year submitted pieces of work for the e-zine and the winning entries got published in our e-zine. This helped to bring attention to our project and get the girls in our year interested in the topic of climate change and global warming.
This e-zine is full of interesting articles that can give you advice on how to be eco- friendly in all aspects of your life; be it gardening, jewellery, cooking, fitness, and there are also lots of interesting stories and poems that will really get you thinking. We just want to finish off with a final thanks to Anna Counihan who drew our ezine logo "Greenzine" that you see at the top of each page.
We hope you enjoy reading this first edition of "Green 'Zine"
Keep it Green!
Love,
Jessie and Hannah
