ONE GOOD IDEA - 6TH OF MAY 2010

On the 6th of May, 6 of us Green-Ziners represented the magazine in the One Good Idea national finals. With over 150 entries we were chosen as one of the lucky 20 finalists. The Final took place in Dublin Castle, it was an early start with registration at 10am. We were greeted with refreshments and the buzz of excited students.  We were then broguht to the room where we would set up our display for 40 minutes. Luckily we had pre-glued our project so we had more than enough time. The co-ordinators were most impressed with our efficiency! We were then introduced to the head judge who spoke to us for the short time of 2 minutes. After a short wait we were judged by two secondary judges who we got to spend 10 minutes with telling them all about our project. (And offering some organic brownies!)
After the judging was all over, the pressure was off and on came the fun. We were brought to a dining room which was immaculately decorated. We had an unbeleivable 3 course meal and then went to the "chill room". The chill room was up to the same standards of the dining room, it had lots of games including giant Operation and two different rooms with Avatar playing in one and New Moon in the other.
We also got our photo taken with our local TD Ciaran Cuffe. After all the fun in the "chill room" we went to the prize giving ceremony and we were all on the edge of our seats! Aidan Power hosted the ceremony and he presented us all with a plaque for our school then they started announcing the awards. We came 2nd in the Senior Category to our absolute delight. We all went for a celebatory milkshake after then went home chuffed. It was a great day.
